As a licensed psychological psychotherapist with a certificate in psychodynamic therapy and a doctor's registration with the Kassenärztliche "Vereinigung NORDRHEIN" (Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians in North Rhine-Westphalia), I am authorized to perform psychotherapy and meet the requirements for cost coverage by private insurance companies and state aid. The costs for psychotherapy are based on the currently valid fee schedule for psychotherapists (GOP).
Since there are very different contractual arrangements with private insurances and aid offices, it is advisable to first check with your insurer. You should find out under which conditions and to what extent costs can be covered. In some cases, for example, only medical psychotherapy is reimbursable, not psychological psychotherapy, and the number of sessions per year, or the reimbursement per session may also be limited. Also, inform yourself about the usual procedure at your insurance company and the possibly necessary forms to save yourself inconveniences later on. I will be happy to assist you with any queries you may have regarding the reimbursement of costs by your insurance company.
Therapy costs are covered if the ailments to be treated fall within the scope of responsibility of the employers' liability insurance association. This is the case, for example, if you have had an accident at work or on the way to work and have developed psychological problems as a result. A clinical diagnosis will be made and, if necessary, up to 5 hours of therapy according to the psychotherapeutic procedure. If this is not sufficient, additional sessions are requested. Special offers such as driving training after traffic accidents, for example, or, if necessary, a transition to inpatient treatment or accompanied planning of professional reintegration are designed to help you cope with the stress. Please leave me a message on my answering machine or use the contact form for new patients, stating that you are contacting me on the recommendation of an accident insurance company, employers' liability insurance association, or a doctor. I will then arrange an initial appointment for you promptly.
Psychotherapy is a benefit of statutory health insurance. This means that the public health insurance companies cover the costs of psychotherapy. You will need your health insurance card for this. However, psychotherapy is a "service subject to application", which means that after an appointment in the so-called consultation hour and up to four trial sessions ("probationary sessions"), an application must be made for the approval of further sessions. If the health insurance company has approved your application for psychotherapy, it will cover the costs of psychotherapy, in full. You do not have to pay anything extra.
If you pay for the therapy yourself, you are of course independent of formalities and particularly flexible in the design of the therapy (e.g. frequency of sessions). In this case, the sessions are billed according to the currently valid fee schedule for psychologists (GOP).
